Hi, Looking at Dallas as a possible city to relocate to. Can anyone give me some reviews on the area, crime, schools, and weather. Ive read that in Dallas it floods a lot... how often does that happen? Are tornadoes a problem? How is the job market? Any advice would be great thanks!

You need to be more specific. DFW is a big area with nearly 7 million people so there are a lot of variables. What is your profession? Are you single or married? Do you care about schools? Are you looking to buy or rent? Price range? Commute time? All of these might influence which part of the Metroplex you might choose to live in and, as such, the level of crime and quality of schools varies. The job market is decent but, if your profession is not in demand, then the overall market doesn't really mean much.

In general, there can be flash flooding and it's something to be careful of but there's no overwhelming worry about it. As for tornadoes, Dallas itself doesn't seem to get hit as badly as points farther north or west. Listen to the weather updates, take proper precautions but it's not something to be paranoid about.

I give it 3 thumbs up.

Yes, you need to focus in on your questions. DFW is the size of some smaller states.

Having lived in the area for 30 years before retiring to FL, don't live in Dallas Co. Co govt is very dysfunctional, with one commissioner indicted and facing trial. Tarrant Co is OK, Denton and Collin Cos have better reputations. Beyond that, it will depend on where your job is. You don't want a job in downtown Ft Worth and live in Plano.

We get storms, certain low areas routinely flood, generally not an issue. There will be ice storms in the winter that can shut things down several days at a time, but it melts off.

There are high crime areas, checkout the on-line reporting systems. If you want a job, you can get one ,may not be the one you want, but they are there, especially financial, Insurance, etc.

Just do your research. Good luck

I think we should hold off on eliminating entire counties from consideration, particularly the most populous one containing the largest city with many jobs in the medical field, which the OP mentioned.

Yes, there have been instances of corruption in Dallas County government, but it isn't alone in that regard. Even in the "better reputation" counties, its not difficult to find recent examples of corrupt practices that have taken place. The smaller, rural counties aren't problem free either.

Single parent households are getting priced out of the home market at a rapid pace. between the exceptionally high taxes and rising real estate prices, I'd suggest you look at renting first.
On the bright side, there's a rather high percentage of other single moms and single dads thanks to one of the highest divorce rates so you will have no problem finding common ground among new friends.
