English isn't my first language so I guess I can't get my points across in an effective manner. Learning, rigor, peers and college readiness are as important as class rank and SAT. Anyone can send kids to Mediocreville High and get in top 10% and do SAT prep drill at KD if that's ALL they expect from education.

I have no problem with parents not spending on top private schooling or not buying in top public districts if they can't or don't want to, I just get annoyed when same people who are very picky about quality of material things, keep arguing about how quality of schools have no value at all and though they value standard of house upgrades more than standard of schools, somehow they'll transform into greatest force in child's schooling.

Same issue with parents who'll never buy a non luxury car or stay below 5* hotel but keep insisting that it doesn't matter if kid goes to a community college or to a good 4 year Uni. It doesn't mean that I'm condemning community college or ones who can't comfortably afford university or didn't get accepted. Their are many routes to success if one is determined but giving kids Opportunities whenever you can is one sacrifice concerned parents want to make.

This reminds me of my boss's wife, she has more designer stuff than Nieman Marcus and flashiest house in Allen but her daughter had to go to community college because mommy thinks that 4 year college tuition is an unnecessary expense.

Not as funny as fragile egos of some posters.

Probably time for a lock on this one, as it's devolved into discussion of specific posters.
