Just looking for some quick advice. My house is in the city of Coppell, but Denton County and Lewisville ISD. Is it possible to get my children into Coppell ISD? I see that elementary schools within Coppell have an open enrollment per this website: Enrollment / Open & Re-Enrollment Anyone familiar with this process? Thanks for the help - when it comes to children I am a rookie

You need to call the school district. With the over crowding of schools I'd bet you are out of luck.

You and a few hundred thousand other families would love to have their kids in the Coppell ISD.

I don't know of anyone personally that has done it, but I know it has been done. The deadline is May 22nd, so I would get on it soon, though! I think it only applies at the elementary level, though I could be wrong. And it isn't guaranteed year on year, so your children may end up back in LISD at some point

If you get in, you will be placed at a school where there is room in your child's grade, not necessarily the elementary closest to your home. If there is no room at any school in your child's grade level, you will be out of luck. The law as it stands now is K-4 has to be 22 or fewer. Schools can and do get waivers to permit classes larger than this, but I'd bet my hat Coppell ISD doesn't do this.
