So far they have done a reasonable job of building schools without increasing tax burden. We will see as things progress. Hopefully the shifting around will be less as areas fill in with development and it seems like the ISD is taking measures to minimize the transfers, such as opening schools with just one or two grades.

I'm not a Frisco resident and my kids are currently destined for Allen HS...Oh! The horror . HS is a long way off for us and AISD has a lot to prove to me before we consider sending them. I like the opportunities that the large campuses provide for classes and extra curricular activities but a class of 2000 just seems overwhelming to me. A kid can easily get lost while some will excel in that environment.

Being a Plano ISD parent I have a similar feeling. Kids who excel everywhere will do great anywhere but in Plano West OMG

Had Frisco grown at a less rapid pace, this desire to maintain smaller high schools would make sense. But 10 new high schools in just over a decade? That's crazy. I'm thinking as much on the lines of school spirit and tradition and excellence in competitions in sports, music and academics.... that whole school pride thing that the community at large gets involved in. Yes, Allen is huge, but it is THE high school for the whole community and the whole community gets behind it. In Frisco, you don't even know what school you are zoned for without consulting a map. There is a place on Rolater where you can see Centennial ahead of you and Liberty in your rearview mirror at the same time. When Stonelake PKwy is completed under the railroad tracks you will be able to see Reedy and Frisco HS in the same way. You can stand on the corner of El Dorado and Independence and see both Independence HS and Heritage HS.

I know Frisco residents will defend this and they did vote for it. It's just too much IMHO. A high school, even in this size of a community, needs to stand out in the community. Not be one of a dozen.
I agree! 11 high schools in 10 yrs! I am not sure if they can really focus on quality over quantity.

Infrastructure, repair, supplies, maintenance and administrative costs are going to bite them big time. They are spreading themselves too thin and logistics takes focus away from academics. Just because affluent Asian/Indian kids can prop Liberty, it doesn't mean that district is performing well.

Frisco high schools are actually built to house 2100 students max, not 1200, which would mean 525 per grade on average.
