I am moving to the Dallas area with and 8 year old child who is severely disabled. He has multiple disabilities. Any advice on schools or districts within the metro area would be helpful.

I've heard Irving las Colinas and carrolton farmers branch are good. But it looks like those two districts are served by cfbisd. So it is really one in the same.

I've also been directed to richardson and even plano.

So I'm getting overwhelmed with investigation........help?

For a child with LID (multiple Low Incidence Disabilities), one of the best school districts in the metroplex is Irving ISD. You might want to research them at (moved) . They have a dedicated & well funded team of physio & speech therapists, special ed teachers, SPH (Severely Profoundly Handicapped) teachers and in general have good focus on special ed needs.

The city of Irving is served by 3 school districts: South Irving feeds into Irving ISD, Las Colinas & North Irving feeds into Carrollton-Farmers Branch and Valley Ranch is served by Coppell ISD.

While Irving ISD is great for kids such as your child, do consider your commute times to work, etc. as well. A special child needs a lot of parental time & attention and you need to factor in that aspect as well before deciding on a place to stay.

I am an infrequent lurker on these forums so feel free to PM me in case you have any more questions. I will try to provide any inputs or assistance that is possible. Best wishes !

Carol
