As a recent college graduate from Michigan, I am looking to escape the horrible economy and job market here and am planning a move to Dallas as soon as I can find a good salaried job.

does anyone have any ideas of where to look for work? I have a degree in International Relations and I did contact the Dallas Convention and Visitor's Bureau. I would like to work near downtown if possible. Of course I've searched on all the online job sites but i'm hoping for more specific businesses and corporations.

Does your university offer career counseling? You should find out what specific job titles you would typically fit into... that would help us better guide you.

this degree is soo broad. It covers mainly political science, business, history and geography. I can see myself working in many different areas to be honest. I would prefer work in the business sector with a company involved in international trade and development mainly, but like i said, there are so many different angles this degree can take me. I worked with a local non-profit here this past summer working on local city and business development so that is definitely an area of interest as well.

There are many large corporations and Fortune 500 based in the Dallas area. My best advice is don't limit yourself to working in downtown Dallas. There are many places throughout the metroplex, such as in Far North Dallas, Addison, Plano, and Richardson.

Do you have kids?

Are you looking for an apartment or a home?

What kind of commute are you looking for?

I don't have any kids, and I am willing to commute up to about 20 miles. I am just saying downtown because I would rather live closer to downtown. I am looking to rent an apartment with my friend and sister. Me and my friend are both single males in our late 20's and I'm not ready to live in suburbia just yet!
