Hello All
I'm new to the boards, but I've been reading and have gotten a lot of info. We are from Florida and soon to be empty nesters, we are interested in the Arlington area, specially zip codes 76006. Does anyone have any info in the area? Thanks in advance
Terry

Stay away from East Arlington, and some parts of Central and North. South and West are the best right now as far as lower crime. Look into Mansfield. It borders Arlington to the South. Its booming, and is a very nice area. They are getting their own mall soon too. Grand Prairie is really bad and borders Arlington to the East, they all seemed to move into Arlington now, so its gone pretty downhill since ive lived there. Go to the Parks mall on any given evening and youll know what I mean. Hope that helps.

I live in 76006. From where I live there's great and easy access to both 360 and 30 (but not if you plan on switching from 369 to 30 or vice versa!). From my apartment balcony, I can see parts of Six Flags and the Rangers ballpark (which helps on the Fourth of July because you get free fireworks!). Traffic can get bad along parts of this area, especially during rush hour. As for convenience, everything you need is close by.

What is it about Arlington that is attractive to you? Why, particularly, do you have interest in the 76006 ZIP code?

I almost bought a house in Arlington when I moved here. Glad I did not as that general area went downhill over the past several years. I would personally not live anywhere between I-20 and I-30 between Dallas and Fort Worth even though there are some decent areas scattered around there. If I were going to try Arlington, I'd probably go south of I-20 and, as LC81 noted, I'd lean toward Mansfield. As alternatives, I might try far south Grand Prairie around Joe Pool Lake or even some parts of Cedar Hill to the southeast since that has easy access to Arlington, the new Highway 161 corridor and lots of shopping is going up over there.

Default Hello All

Thanks for the replies
Since I last posted, we have visited Dallas and the surrounding areas. Yes, you are all right about Arlington, We liked it at first because of the homes we saw there, but after visiting , we did not like the area at all. We are favoring North Irving, Valley Ranch area, and Richardson. How do you all feel about these areas? Thanks again
Terry

Those are all nice areas terrybiz. You may want to check out my area, which is zip 76054 (North Hurst/Keller/North Richland Hills). The homes are really affordable over here and the area is very much on the upswing. NE Tarrant County is really booming. The neighborhoods are safe, we have some really nice parks, and there is no shortage of places to shop, eat, or entertain. Below are some pics of Chisolm Park that I took just the other day.

Default Arlington

What about the area is most intriguing to you? Do you like golf or other recreation like this? Are there shoppers among you?
