Broken Bow Camping (Dallas: homes, living, cabins)

I'm trying to plan a camping trip to Broken Bow and supprised how little information I'm able to find online. It seems there is a Beavers Bend State Park as well as some private camp grounds. I can't really find a good review or guide of them though.

We will have young children so we really need a spot with water and electiricity. I would also like to be semi secluded. I've been to some state parks where the sites are right on top of each other and I don't want that.

I would appreciate if someoe that knows the area well could give me the lay of the land. Camping options, proximity to the lake, swimming, boating, other activities, etc. Thanks

Many of the cabins in Beavers Bend were wiped out by flooding about a month ago. My mom lives up there 50% of the year. I'll ask her in AM if the any of the cabins are open. That said the area sports hundreds of privately owned cabins as well.

Thanks for the reply. We are not looking for a cabin though. We will be tent camping but would like power and water at the site.

We went to Beavers Bend State Park for many years when our kids were little but haven't been in probably 15 years. We always had a good time - hiking, boating, fishing, biking, etc. - and the scenery was beautiful. We rented a waterfront cabin every year (there were a series of them above the river with living room, kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom, and nice outdoor covered deck) but I remember there being many camping options scattered about for everything from tents to motor homes. There were also what I'd describe as small, "rustic" cabins. I don't know how it is with campsites but the cabins we rented were booked a year in advance - so we booked the next year when we checked out to ensure availability. I highly recommend going there and it's not terribly far from Dallas.

We spent Thanksgiving weekend in Beaver's Bend last year. It was a wonderful trip. We stayed in our travel trailer, but there is plenty of tent camping available as well. Our spot was directly across from the lake and we were never bored once. Our two kids and dog had a great time hiking, fishing and exploring all weekend. The RV spots are a little close together but we never felt crowded or cramped even once.
