I have multiple projects that need to get done out in my garage. However, due to the heat in recent weeks I haven't spent much time on them.

Once, I tried working through the afternoon in a closed garage but felt I like was getting a heatstroke and had to stop.

Obviously, having HVAC inside the garage is not allowed by the HOA. Not to mentioned it can get expensive to install one and air seal the garage.

Anyone got ideas that solved the issue of working in a hot garage?

Man these HOAs must be crazy.

I would never buy in such neighborhood!!

How stupid is that, how stupid??

Only viable option i could think of is to buy a horde small USB fans

They could at least cool you down a bit.

I work in the mornings or later in the evenings. A standing fan moves the air around and helps. Lots of water and work in short windows. Good luck.

The garage project people in my neighborhood work with the garage open all the time. No one says anything.

Why is that obvious? I've got a small window-style AC mounted in the wall of my garage. It helps if the temp is no more than 90.

Other than that, get some 24" or so utility fans.

Everytime I read a post on here about an HOA I think how lucky I am that I don't live in the burbs. Not that I want to but AC in my garage but why the hell should anyone care if I did?

OP, I would look into one of those industrial sized fans. I worked in a warehouse one summer in college and we had a few of those big fans. It made it manageable.

Like one of these:

My husband leaves the door open and he has a big box fan that he sets up in front of where he is working. Leaving the door open at least helps the air circulate a bit, even if it is 100 degrees outside. He doesn't complain much.

We live in hot muggy GA. My husband's 2 car garage has 3 big ceiling fans. He opens the doors and has the fans going and it stays comfortable.

How would the HOA even know if you a/c'd your garage? And why would they care? As long as you don't convert it to a living space, it shouldn't be an issue.

We do our garage stuff early in the morning on weekends with the door up. We just finished hanging shelving units last weekend. It was warm, but not unbearable.

As others said, try opening the door and use a box fan ... why have the door closed? Unsafe and uncomfortable.

I have a window unit in my garage - not visible from the street.
