True - well I used to recommend Junius Heights and Ridgewood Park on this forum back when you could get something for less than $150,000. Not that long ago... I'd say it's doubled since then...

So, the "rare few affordable neighborhoods" have ONE area that starts at less than 200k, and of the four mentioned, half of those are probably way undershooting the mark. Nice to know the Observer's definition of affordable has gentrified along with its readership.

They're off on every single neighborhood. Midway Hollow is solidly $300k & up (lot value is more than the $200k quoted for a house, Lochwood is pretty much over $300k at this point (correction: active listings are $315-550k!! And the elementary school is terrible while the article touts it as good), Elmwood pickings are scarce under $175k, etc. Worthless article - a few phone calls to realtors with MLS access would have been a good idea. No journalistic integrity on the web.
