I'm going to be moving to Dallas here in the next few months and was trying to find a cheap place that's not too far from the uptown area. I noticed Carisle on the Katy Trail has some studio apartments that are extremely cheap and it appears to be right in a decent area as far as proximity to uptown bars etc. I know the apartments are much older than the surrounding ones going for 1500+ a month for a 1 bedroom but is the complex itself safe and in an okay area? (I realize crime is present in any city, I'm more concerned about the complex itself and no major safety concerns ). Thanks in advance.

It's fine. Also check out Trianon... Similar pricing.

Carlisle is an older complex so it does not have the same amenities/finish out as most of the other properties around there. It's good as a base of operations but not much more than that.
Trianon is much better but starts at $1400/month.

There's a new complex around Knox and Cole that is new and offering move in specials (rare right now). You might check into that one. I can't recall the name.
