We just moved to Plano and are presently in an apt feeding to Robinson Middle School. We're also looking in a few other middle schools (Renner, Schim) but wondering if there are crossing guards across some of these major roads. Robinson has no busing because all of the students live within 2 miles of the school but some of these cross streets are really busy. Just wondering...I know my kids are in middle school and can cross a street but these are many more lanes than we're used to in NJ and there isn't necessarily a stoplight at them. Thanks!

PISD does offer paid busing for approx 30 bucks a month. Thats what we use even though we live close to the middle school, just so our child does not have to cross a major street on foot.

They do provide crossing guards and security police for all elementary schools but no so much for older kids. They can't put guards on every busy street, logistically impossible. Just advice kids to only cross at intersections with traffic signals. If you are not sure that they would then bus would service them at a small fee even if they are not eligible for bus route.

my kids were new to it also but they just followed the other kids who were already used to it. you will see there are lots of kids crossing spring creek rd going to robinson. pretty sure same for legacy too. Actually, really picks up as temperatures start to go down and then you will think more than half the students walk and plenty crossing those bigger streets too.

just make sure they dont follow any crazy kids crossing against red lights. havent really seen that though.

but yes, we were very concerned being new to the area so we walked over there and practiced with them several times.
