Hello all,

I am strongly considering a move to Arlington/Dallas area from California. I am a single Black woman just turned 30 this week and I am looking for something new and more affordable. I don't know anyone there but I was told people there are friendly so that puts me at ease. I work in the medical field will be trying to start nursing school out there. Mainly I want to move for the experience. I want a place where it's safe, job market is good and where there are other singles and things to do. If anyone can shine some light to this area I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Arlington has no public transportation so bring your car with you.

Anything in particular you would like to know that's not already posted?
Any special reason you selected Arlington as your destination?

I'm assuming you want to move to Arlington because of the nursing school at UTA? If you're going to be working too, Arlington Memorial Hospital is not far from UTA. There are also hospitals in South Arlington, north of I-20.

I'd try to avoid living in central Arlington. The best neighborhoods are in far north, south, and west Arlington. If you're going to be renting an apartment, North Arlington is chock full of complexes. The area around River Legacy Park is very nice and has affordable but well-maintained complexes. Most are older though. Arlington was pretty much built out by the 80s.

As for night life, you're not going to find much in Arlington itself unless you're into strip malls and dive bars. Most is centered around UTA. You can also check out the Highlands shopping center. But for date nights and what not, you'd be better off going to Fort Worth or Dallas.

North Arlington around River Legacy Park is where the majority of singles live in Arlington. For the most part Arlington is family-oriented. However, that section does have many apartments. Arlington is well located for the airport, and accessibility to both Dallas and FTW. The nightlife is in the city for the most part.

No not really. I live in a small town here and it's the second safest city in California so I want to find a place similar but with more things to do. I don't drink nor do I go to clubs I enjoy lounges and open mic, live music, and interactive stuff like festivals and stuff.
