Regarding Tornados: I haven't experienced one, but I don't think they're a HUGE worry here, based on what the locals say. I mean, almost every location has its natural disasters whether it be flood, hurricane, etc. You mentioned San Diego which is where we just moved from and also where 3,000 homes have been destroyed by wildfires in just the last five years. By the numbers, I think we're safer here. But still gotta be prepared of course.

My Mother inlaw lives in Pine Valley and she had to leave her house now to long ago. I couldnt live like that, always worring about fires.

It's not something to worry about if you live closer to the "city" but of course that's more expensive and not as pretty like Pine Valley.

Ironically as I wrote that, they started evacuating the nighborhood we're suppose to close on a house in 2 weeks because of a.... fire. Oy!

I moved from Schaumburg to Dallas 13 years ago and I have never seen a tornado here... We have our own share of bad weather too such as hail storms but as far as tornados you get a lot of media coverage when they spot a funnel somewhere. There are always isolated incidents such as the one downtown Fort Worth a few years back and most recent another one in Haltom City which is in Fort Worth too.

That had to be one of the best moves we ever made, we don't miss shoveling snow at all.

I dont like the icy cold weather, like now its 50 degrees, and its raining. tonight our low is 0. I cant beat this cold I have. I have lived here all my life. and I think its time for a good change. TEXAS! I guess I shouldnt worry so much about the tornados, I guess. Im a worry wart. but most of all I worry for the kids. So do you think the area we want to move to is a good area?

Irving has some nice areas. Don't limit yourself at looking only there, this metroplex is 3500 square miles and there is something for everyone. What price range are you wanting to stay within? where will you be commuting? all that info would help to recommend places.
