if someone approaches you saying that they can fix the dent that was happened because of some minor accidents, don't believe them. I was in a grocery store parking lot and two people from next car came to me and said they can fix the dent and scratch and won't charge you if that doesn't look good to you. I was very reluctant and they convinced me that I can't say a word later. They removed the dent by hitting it from the trunk and later applied some paint material. Asked me to wash it after 24 hours so I can't really tell the scratch was painted or not. I paid them the 300$. When I went to the car wash next day, he told me that I was cheated by them and gave the descriptions of them and mentioned the same incident what happened. Now the car side looks ugly with those wrong lotions they applied Just sharing this information so that no one falls for them.

Some dents just pop out but I am afraid you ran into real scammers.

Did you really let two random people in a parking lot do something to your car?

Yup. Classic case of bad judgement. I wouldn't let 2 strangers in a parking lot get near me OR my car, much less fork over $300 cash without getting a second opinion.

very common in NY (brooklyn) where i come from
always gypsies in the parking lots of Home depot and other stores offering to fix dents and damage
they usually do a horrible job and mess the car up more than it was before. in my day we had a few confrontations with them
