I think this post is more naive than racist, and we should maybe not shame the OP for asking a legitimate (albeit slightly tactless) question. It happens - we've all done it.

The DFW area has a reputation (with outsiders) for being fairly "white bread." That was my assumption when I moved here. Coming from another genuinely white bread area, the discovery that DFW (including Plano) was a true melting pot was a pleasant surprise.

This hasn't been a negative, and we don't feel "outnumbered" (ratio in my NW Plano nabe is about 70/30). We've just stepped up our game to learn about how other cultures respond to *us* and try to go the extra mile to be friendly and welcoming.

I don't have kids in school, but I walk past the neighborhood elementary every day. Kids seem to be getting along just fine. That's the important thing isn't it?

I know exactly what Montessori school the OP is talking about as I live right near Deerfield north as well. Visit the school and look at the ethnic make up of the kids attending. The staff and owners are Indian but the student body is quite mixed. I cut ties with that school b/c I was unhappy with the admin and constantly but heads but my Black kid had tons of Indian, Asian, White and Hispanic friends.

Deerfield North is West Plano? Most people refer to it as North Plano.

Im thinking the post is satirical. Kind of poking fun at all the threads on here from other races then white asking about certain areas and if they will fit in. Plus look at openers screen name. Kind of says alot there.

It is in west Plano. There is no north Plano designation, as mostly the designations follow high school boundaries and students attend Plano West high (Plano West, Plano Senior, Plano East are the senior high schools). But it is also in north Plano, so you can call it north Plano if you want.

Deerfield North doesn't feed to Plano ISD, that area is reffered as North Plano. People usually go by feeder for areas feeding to Plano ISD.

If your kids are getting strange looks in school, its not because they are caucasian....but you might not want to send them to school wearing a steel strainer on their heads. Js
