Yeah, but New Trier beats you guys. :-)

(As a former Chicagoan, I just had to say that)

On a state level, having a school district in Austin as #2 by those rankings is pretty cool.

Surprised to see 2 PA districts in the top 7 and 4 in the top 22. I've never thought of Pennsylvania as having exceptional schools (not bad schools, either, just nothing great or terrible).

In addition to the New Trier, interesting to see Chicagoland with the #10 district and #23 district as well. We didn't live in those but had many friends and relatives who lived in the top two noted. New Trier gets all the publicity, but I bet Glenbrook is happy to be rated that highly.

MA has only one in the top 30. Again, surprised. I would've expected them to have more.

Like any rankings, take them all with a grain of salt. And I get that Ben posted this a bit tongue-in-cheek.

LOL. And yes, I'm actually not a fan of Niche due to their metrics. However, glad to see the HPISD in the news in a positive manner.

Highland Park deserves their ranking. Glad that they have national recognition.

So, the other North Texas districts in the top 100:
Carroll (27)
Plano (63)
Coppell (77)

I think the most maddening thing on here is how much hair-splitting goes on. The substantive differences in the school districts for Plano, Coppell, and Flower Mound are pretty small. If your kid is in any of those districts, their odds of success at that point are far more dependent on you the parent than the school district.

If you ignore your job as a parent, then it doesn't matter if your kid is in a terrible district or Highland Park, they aren't going to do well.

Go Highland Park! Continues to be the best public school district in the DFW area!

Well, what the heck else are we going to do with our time?

You are, of course, correct. Above a certain level, how well one "fits" into the school in terms of making friends, being comfortable with the general "feel" of the school and student body, connecting with classmates and teachers - all of those things can be more important than a 30 point difference in average SAT scores.

All of the "Usual Suspects" are more than good enough to push a kid to a high level of success in whatever they choose to devote themselves to.

Having recently relocated from a place where my daughter was subjected to Common core, I think they're all great. Hooray for common sense!
