Is it just me? When I'm home I don't really watch TV so I hear all sorts of noise outside. Usually it's been pretty quiet around West Plano but lately I'm hearing more frequent airplane noise. It's a bit confusing since this isn't Oak Lawn or Grapevine. Anyone else hear it?

The NE corner of DNT and SRT is Ikea and Frisco, not W Plano

I think he meant the intersection of Bush & DNT which is West Plano...

Are you aware that there are 2 airports within a few miles of your home? Air-Park Dallas is just south of WillowBend Mall and the Addison Airport is off DNT & Keller Springs. Both get a good amount of private jet traffic as well as some cargo planes.

I live in West plano neat parker and preston. Lately around mod night or so I hear what sounds like a very large helicopter several times a week. It seems a recent development as I did not hear it the first few years here. Any ideas what this could be?

There is a helipad at Presby Plano (Parker/Tollway) - maybe that's what you're hearing?

That is likely Careflite, they have a Bell 222 up in Frisco that flies north/south along the tollway at night. It has a distinctive "thump-thump" to the blades, like an old huey.

I live in far NW Frisco and I can hear traffic going to both DFW and Lovefield on a daily basis, so I'm sure you can hear it as well. My daughter even asks "airplane?" when we are in the house. I don't know if traffic has increased the last year or so or if I just notice it now because she is talking more and notices the airplanes all the time.
