I have a 7 year 55'" Samsung TV Model #LN52A650A1FXZA and it cannot power on. I found the main board part for $256 and I'm wondering if it is worth repairing. I can install it myself so I don't need installation.

The kids used it to play video games plus, I have an old Panasonic DVD player with surround sound system and this is the only TV I can hock it up on.

Is this worth repairing? Has anyone had this issue before and repaired there TV successfully?

Yes...I had the exact problem you're having. I had to have the board replaced twice. It was a known manufacturing defect and Samsung fixed it both times for free.

TV runs like a champ.

You can buy brand new 55" 1080P televisions for $400, that will be under warranty, so no, it isn't worth it to replace.

You probably don't need the entire board either... just the caps replaced, unless they leaked acid all over the board and damaged it.

Personally, I'd just buy a new tv in this case.

Check ebay. There are folks who repair and ship boards for various TV models, they can either fix yours or cross ship the exact replacement, which has been repaired and tested. I did this when my old Panasonic plasma stopped working and I discovered that replacement parts were discontinued by manufacturer.

I would not fix the TV. For less than 2x that price of the board you could have a new TV with better specs. - this afternoon.

I agree. The only reason I had mine fixed twice was I didn't have to pay for it.
