We are moving back to TX from the Northeast. Putting in a pool. Just cannot decide if it is worth the extra 10k to put in the hot tub too. House is new construction in a nice rural-ish subdivision on acre lot. We definitely need to consider resale value.

Here, people use hot tubs quite a bit because it takes so long for pools to really be warm enough to swim in and the season is so short. I am just recalling TX summers and a hot tub really isn't all that appealing. Just worried if we don't put one in we will be making a mistake. Maybe we would use it all winter?

Do TX home buyers usually want hot tubs? Any thoughts appreciated! Help us decide!

Hot tubs are important because in cooler months you can enjoy outdoor and water without having to heat up whole pool.

I love hot tubs; nothing better than being out there in winter at night!

Add the hot tub. We have been looking for 2 years and the houses that had a pool and no hot tub or one that was not attached were a turn off.

I have an older home, pool but no hot tub. If I were putting in a pool I would definitely add the hot tub.

I would not build a pool without a spa. That way you can use it 12 months a year.

We've used or spa as much as we've used our pool.

Pull up weather data for the last five years. We used our's daily rain, shine or ice. In winter with ear muffs and wine glasses with extra long stems several neighbors also got the same make/model. It took some doing but it moved to Oklahoma with us. It is a good place to let 'little people' enjoy paying in water under close supervision and almost year round.

In ground versus portable - we moved it around several times as the configuration of the patio changes. Cost - about 11/2 of in ground. Issues in now 6 years - none and it is our third one with the manufacturer.

We have an inground pool with no spa. At a certain price point and above, if you're going through the expense of adding a pool, you need to add the spa for a "complete" setup. Previous owners put in a pool but no spa, we looked into adding one, but the position of where they put the pool and the plumbing makes it unfeasible.

Our pool is on the smaller side however, so we can heat ours up in the 90's with no trouble.

It's not absolutely necessary to have one, but if you're putting a pool in, that will be viewed more favorably by any future buyers to have the spa too.
