Thank you all for your suggestions! This was extremely helpful. I'm in Dallas now and I definitely like the Uptown and Knox-Henderson area. My budget is $1300 maximum rent. I'm leaning towards the Knoxbridge apartment complex as opposed to Monterey by Windsor and Post Katy Trail in Uptown.

Thanks,

Himali

If you're also passionate about biking you want to be near the Katy Trail or White Rock Lake. Those are the best places to bike in Dallas. I wouldn't recommend trying to bike to work though. Dallas isn't a bike friendly city in most areas on the surface streets.

I agree about biking to work maybe, depending on your point A and point B. However I do bike quite a bit in Dallas and don't feel unreasonably unsafe. As I stated earlier, I live off Greenville. I bike all over Greenville, Knox-Henderson, over to white rock lake, and sometimes even down to deep ellum. It's true that Dallas isn't set up to be over-ly friendly to bikes, but at the same time I find it to be a convenient form of transport here.

I bike to work every day. The people who say you can't or shouldn't do it are people who have never actually tried it.

There is an entrance to the Katy Trail from Knox Street. So you can still save $$ by renting at Knoxbridge without sacrificing proximity to biking/running trails.
