How is the Highlands School in Irving, TX? We are looking to enroll our son there in the fall. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

From what I hear, it has struggled with low enrollment the past few years. I also think it would be hard to fit in if you are not Catholic--they are very conservative.

My husband and his siblings attended from the mid 90s to mid 2000s.

A local entrepeneur that I know affirmed the school as being very good both academically and from the religous perspective. Though I would consider him to be more on the conservative side as far as religion goes, he is not a member of say, SSPX. With that in mind, I would guess that The Highlands is unapologetically conservative, but not fundamentalist.

Many of the less academically competitive Catholic schools have been struggling with enrollment of late. I know a few that have had to become less generous with their sibling discounts in recent years (typically those discounts are substantial). The folks I've talked with who send their kids to these schools blame the availability of decent charter schools that pick off some of the kids for whom affording private school (even at Catholic prices) was a stretch. I don't know whether that's true or just a convenient excuse.

We are not Catholic, we are Hindu, actually. But looking for a good education for our son, we are spiritual and open to all faiths.

I am 99% sure it's too late, but if you want a Classical Education, I would also recommend looking into Great Hearts, an Irving Charter school (and another reason Highlands is struggling with enrollment).

Honestly, I don't think it would be a good fit then. The religious aspect is pushed hard and is a fundamental part of all the school vs how it might be limited to one religion class at another school. It's going to be a hard environment for your family to fit into. The school is very closely associated with the Legionaries of Christ and Regnum Christi.

If you are looking for a good private school in the area, I highly suggest you check out North Hills.

It has been a long time since my husband's family attended, but based on his experience, we would be hesitant to send my own children there and we would definitely be considered Conservative Catholics.
