There are a lot of nice places to hang out that are not chain within 15 minutes of Wylie.

Wylie is a small town that is growing right now. Give it time, they will be there. Those kinds of places did not show up overnight in the Uptown area of Dallas. It took time. First, the businesses are not going to go in before the clientele are living and working nearby.

I am from NYC, live in Wylie for few years now and Murphy for about 8 years.... just have to accept a place as it is and adjust. For years I say, Dallas area doesn't have this or that or whatever.... I have just adjusted my thinking and either I move (which I am may do) or just accept what is and enjoy it.

You are not going to find NYC pizza, so just give up now. But, you will find good pizza (coal oven/wood oven), it just is not NYC style. This is a good NYC style deli=> Dallas NY Style Deli, Dallas Deli, Bakery, Catering - Cindi's New York Deli

With the new college coming in three years, you may see more development in Wylie, but honestly, I bought here because I want it to remain sleepy and boring. I rather live in sleepy and boring and drive to excitement and leave all that excitement in places I don't live.

Try Zanata in downtown Rockwall for a great pizza. Best around IMO. Not far from Wylie!

this has not been true for a long time.

LOL at this "authentic NY pizza" stuff. I lived in Manhattan for a year, and pizza there is the same as in South Carolina or Texas.

is the secret the mineral water with wide slices? Several places around the metroplex with owners claiming they are from New York and import New York water to make the dough.

Lived in TX my whole life. Have been going to NYC for vacation for a few years. It's definitely not the same. But hey, our BBQ is better!

For those talking about pizza...You should try "Serious Pizza" in Deep Ellum. It has "seriously" changed my idea of a good pie!! It's a bit hole-the-wall type place but they have recently expanded their dining area to more than double its size. If you get a large for take out, bring an SUV or truck

As for Wylie, yes I am disappointed in the lack of dining options, but as another poster has stated, we do not have highway access and it puts a damper on businesses and commute for that matter. We have all the Walmart's we need, a Target, plenty of grocery stores for everyday items closeby so I'll take that trade-off. Plus when you have to drive a bit for date night, it kinda makes it a little more "special"...like a mini trip HAHA
