I see you've posted about this on several different forums. It's called DFPS and is a state agency. It's in a lot of turmoil right now and you'll find plenty of news articles about low morale, low pay, and overloaded employees. CPS Specialists/Investigators tend to make in the 30K-40K range which is far below what anyone doing that kind of work deserves to be paid. There is a new DFPS commissioner named Hank Whitman who is a retired Texas Ranger and it's hoped that he can turn things around. I can't imagine the emotional impact a job like that has on you in of itself, not to mention being underpaid, overworked, and in what many consider to be a toxic work environment.

In any case, I think it's pretty easy to get a job their if you have the minimum qualifications. Many employees don't think they are treated well. The pay is certainly not enough to live on unless you are single and have a comfort level living in a blue collar type of neighborhood.

All that being said, I hope DFPS can attract and retain good employees. They are a vital institution that has gone neglected by the State for a very long time.
