Most ridiculous comment yet. Plano has a great school district and low crime DESPITE its proximity to Dallas.

Exactly. This doesn't seem like a difficult topic.

If you isolated Plano, or any other DFW suburb, in the middle of nowhere Texas, it would most likely be similar to all the small towns scattered throughout Texas.

How is it ridiculous? Plano only started gaining that reputation after it grew because of Dallas.

Oh, and not all of Dallas is crime ridden. Please, stop generalizing a city that is over 300 square miles.

Yall, don't try and use DISD in order to argue that your suburb is more than what it is. Most suburbs have better school districts than their cities. It should be a given for a suburb to have less crime and a better school district than the main city.

It wouldn't have all that if it wasn't for its proximity to Dallas.

And without the many suburbs supplying a stable, highly educated workforce over the years, the city of Dallas would have failed to thrive and have the economic power of Amarillo. See? anyone else wanna play the time machine conjecture game? It's fun for the whole family!

In a meeting today, someone mentioned the 4 components that make a city attractive

1) a strong hospital/healthcare system
2) a strong education system
3) a solid, functional government
4) a strong economic environment

I still think you can be a city and a suburb. And then there are going to be those that are not much more than bedroom communities. Rather than "a city"

If Plano didn't exist, the stable, highly educated workforce would simply live in another suburb. You even admitted it yourself what Plano is, a suburb. Yes, it is becoming another node in our metro, but it is still a suburb.

Definitely agree with this.

A couple things not mentioned here are that cities are dynamic and heterogeneous. Plano is neither. Despite having quite a bit of ethnic diversity, the lifestyle is primarily homogeneous and conformist. Obsessing over SAT scores and trying to keep up with the Jones's does not make a place very dynamic.

You have talk in stereotypes and broad generality I live in Plano and neither I nor anyone I associate with remotely resembles your generalities. Keep on dreaming while facts don't back your warped views. Your ego is pulling your IQ down
