Hello - I have a friend who is homeless and he has been seen a few times in the hospital district area. I believe (but have not confirmed) that he is staying at the Salvation Army. I am wondering if anyone could tell me what nice air conditioned/indoor spots at UT southwestern there might be where a homeless person might be able to park himself for a while without getting bothered? I've tried looking around but the place is so big I don't know where to start.

UT Southwestern police would probably insist that he move on if hanging out there. Perhaps the cafeteria at the new Parkland Hospital (huge monolith south of Salvation Army facility on Harry Hines)?

Parkland PD would also do the same. They have over 80 officers and the large cafeteria has a heavy police presence 24/7.

Sorry to say to the OP, but a hospital is not a place for a homeless person to "park". I suggest he check out The Bridge near the Farmer's Market in downtown.

Thanks for the tip on the cafeteria, I will take a look there. Are there no public areas at UT southwestern?

Let me clarify, I'm not looking for a place for him. I'm just trying to find somewhere that he already be going. He's very quiet and doesn't bother anybody. The police probably wouldn't even notice he's there, and even if they did I don't know why they'd make him leave if he's just sitting in a public area.

A hospital isn't the local mall. It is incredibly disrespectful to think it's in any way appropriate for people to "hang out" where sick or injured people are trying to seek help.

I think you misunderstood. The OP is looking for her friend, not trying to find a place to hang out.

It amazes me that Parkland/DPD/Parkland Police let people hang out in those medians.
