Ok, here's the deal. We are currently living in South Florida (Ft. Lauderdale) and are looking to relocate to Texas. My DH is a welder by trade, and has found work in DFW AND Houston areas. We have been actively looking for a "fixer-upper" in both of these and surrounding areas. We expect to have to do some work to make a house a home...What do you really expect for such a small price? That isn't the problem though. We need to settle on a particular area. We found a home in Hawk Cove, but the realtor says it's not a place for people with kids, she also says that Abilene is a dying town. I had family in Coleman, Leaday, and the surrounding area, so desert landscape won't scare me (thought maybe my DH). Galviston and the Gulf Coast counties are out of the question, we've had ENOUGH of hurricanes, thank you! Any help you could give would be so greatly appreciated! My other half will be flying into Houston this Friday to scope out the area...

Where in the Dallas Metroplex did your husband find a job? Since it is so large you don't want to be on one side and then the job clear on the other. I'm going to assume his job is on the east side of Dallas since you were looking out towards Quinlan. Are you wanting land too? About what price range? How close to certain amenities do you want to be and/or how far away?

So, are you going to pick Houston or DFW? They are about 5 hours drive apart.
