Hi everyone, my husband and I are considering moving to Dallas. We have a 2 year old and we want to stay in a neighborhood that has great elementary schools. Now, here's the catch. Both of us will be working in Highland Park. We want to live in a neighborhood that has diversity, and so we're really not keen on HP or UP. We would love to move to Plano, but I'm guessing the commute from Plano to HP during rush hour will be awful.

So, my question is, what are our options? Like I said, we want to live in a neighborhood that has great elementary schools, is diverse, and ideally just 15-20 minutes away from HP. We would like to buy a 4 bed/3 bath house, and are looking to spend around $600K. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Stonewall Jackson elementary is close to HP and a highly rated school. Diverse too.

White Rock Elementary is also a good commute for you. Some of the local real estate websites allow searches by school.

Most everything east of 75 and south of Mockingbird would be a good fit. Look for Lakewood Elem, Stonewall Jackson Elem, Robert E Lee Elem and Mata Elem.

Good luck.

Thanks! I saw this listing for White Rock Elementary. It's a six bedroom place, not sure why it's so cheap!

Apparently it's across the street from White Rock Elementary..

One thing (probably doesn't apply to the link), you should always verify schools zoned to any property you are serious about with the school. Zoning in this area is often very odd, so always verify.

You could also look at homes zoned to Rosemont Elementary (75208, North Oak Cliff), Withers Elementary (75220,75229 north Dallas west of Tollroad), and Kramer Elementary (75230, North Dallas/Preston Hollow between 75 & Preston). All within 10-15 minutes of HP. All good elementary schools with diversity - more diversity than White Rock or Lakewood elementaries, too.
