Native Fort Worth residents though seem to be invested in their reputation as a friendly city so they seem to make an effort to be friendly. The recent transplants often aren't but many of them adjust to the prevailing culture if they stay long enough. A close friend of mine's husband was relocated to Fort Worth from Switzerland by the company he worked for. They're British. They were shocked by how friendly the people were when they arrived because they had never experienced anything quite like it. Unfortunately he was forced out so they had to move to Silicon Valley for another job. They had mistakenly assumed that the friendliness was an American trait and have sorely disappointed since they moved there.
I keep reading about the friendliness of the people of Fort Worth and how prideful Forth Worthians are of their town. That's really cool. I'm gonna check the town out. The friendliest place I've ever been to was Portland Oregon. I'll see how it stacks up with all the good stuff I've been hearing.

Rude to me is thinking of self in most situations not about others. Is Texas worse than most in this trait? I think not. Are there a lot of people who fit this mold every where and a lot of those who dont fit it every where? Yes that is whats true.

I think generalities are generally wrong! But in general DFW looks down on Houston more than the opposite in my experience living in both areas. Its not a big deal to me so no daily sweat wasted on this generality or others in my daily life.
