I'm going back to the dealership that I purchased the vehicle from today, hopefully we can get this sorted out. At this point I don't want the car anymore, but I know the dealership will give me some type of push back. I honestly think I'll need to seek assistance.

I like the concept behind this old Discount Tire commercial.

Naturally I don't advocate this but I do like the concept!

Were you told that the vehicle came with a powertrain warranty? Infiniti comes with a 6yr 70,000mi powertrain warranty that should cover something like this, but if it has been voided, then I guess that's of no use. Did the dealer offer any kind of warranty? Some dealers give you a limited 30 day warranty which covers a portion of repairs.

With only 36,000mi, I find it really hard to believe that the vehicle would have sludge three times. A 2012 Infiniti uses synthetic oil and should be able to get 7000-10,000mi from each oil change. So unless the oil was only changed once or never, I find the sludge claim difficult to believe.

If the sludge argument is true, you REALLY want to ditch this car! It will be a maintenance nightmare forever.

I hope you get resolution.
My sister had a similar issue (bought car from CarMax with (unknown) voided warranty). It took several weeks but CarMax made it right for her. (She was able to basically exchange cars with them for a newer model)

Good luck.

I understand car max is easier to deal with than many dealers. Sewell would be exception if the car was bought thereby strongly doubt it they would know about voided warrant and not buy much less resale the car .

Update: just left the dealership, had a massive argument with the GM about returning this car. I'm definitely going talk to a lawyer

I don't understand why you expected it to have a warranty from a party that wasn't even the seller. That seems like an awfully big problem from a legal standpoint.

Really?! The manufacturers warranty "SHOULD" still be active. A car with 30k miles that has a voided manufactures warranty is terrible, period. I think the op has a case against the dealership that sold him the car.

Manufacturer car warranties are generally fully transferrable.

I seriously doubt the dealer didn't know the warranty was void. Hope the op is taken care of. I really hate to see big companies do this to the little people...
