Up-and-coming towns?

Waxahachie is getting a new high school so it is certainly growing.

Fate in Rockwall County might fit the bill. Should be fairly close to 30 miles to Love Field. It is the fastest growing city in Texas though.

I think where people move in DFW has changed. In the past, traffic wasn't as much of an issue, so people were okay driving 25miles+ to their job just so they could live in a big McMansion. I feel like now that traffic continues to get worse, people are becoming more practical and location is far more important than it used to be. Going forward, the next 'up and coming' areas will be existing neighborhoods that are older and have been overlooked up until now.

My pick would be Grand Prairie. It's not 'out there', but there are still cheap houses to be had, plus IKEA has decided to open a store there, which is pretty big news for the area. I'm honestly not that familiar with GP, so do your research, but if IKEA believes in this suburb, then that's a pretty good sign. It also helps that GP has great access to Dallas and Fort Worth. My other picks would be far east Dallas/Garland and Carrolton. Again, not too familiar with either of these locations, but I just think people are going to opt for more centrally located suburbs with great highway access to things like Downtown, the airport, and wherever the jobs are. I also think easy access to DART rail will become more important in the next decade, especially if/when the Cotton Belt and D2 lines are completed.

I would only recommend two parts of GP. The area near Joe Pool and the area South of I-20 zoned to Powell Elementary and Reagan Middle School that consistently have scores which mirror that of top schools in other districts.

I actually lived in Grand Prairie years ago, and it was OK back then, but that area is not quite so nice now.

What I mean are areas that people generally consider "out there" and a bit of a drive, but are beginning to build up and develop, but are still relatively quiet, safe, and country-ish right now.

Ideally, the housing would be new and under $350k.
Would consider a commute of less than 30 miles to the Love Field area (off-hours!! NOT 9-5, thank goodness).
