Hi all,

I will be moving to Dallas soon for a professional position in uptown (think near the Crescent hotel). I'm single, with no pets or attachments. Where would be a good, relatively affordable place to live? My budget would be around $1000 for a 1bedroom. My ideal commute would be around 25 minutes, but I'd like to avoid traffic as much as possible. If it helps, I'd be driving in early (around 6:30) and leaving late (around 6).

Thanks!

The village would work. I also notice on the zillow website some rentals in the M street/Greenville Ave area in your budget occasionally. That would be a good location in zip code 75206.

The Village. If you can increase your budget by $200, you open up a lot more options.

Try looking at Oak Lawn around Cedar Springs.

I'd look at the following areas:

*Design District
*Oak Lawn
*Parts of DT Dallas
*Old East Dallas (areas around Ross Ave.)
*Deep Ellum
*Knox-Henderson
*Lower Greenville

For most of these, there are side streets you can take to avoid the cluster mess of traffic on the highways.

Lol I know that's absurd. But the OP may be able to find that in a much older apartment complex (70s-80s) a little further up along Cole Ave.
