I have a decent commute during which I love listening to the radio. News-Traffic-weather type radio stations are what I prefer. My default has been KRLD AM 1080.

Lately, I have found myself wanting to not listen to any news. (Lets NOT sidebar on this topic please), unless its positive and uplifting.

Any suggestions on radio stations that might make the cut ? So - something like AM 1080, but maybe less depressing / political news is my ideal, but if nothing like that exists then any uplifting talk radio with some traffic and weather thrown in will work.

I like talk more than music...but if someone knows just the right station with maybe music, traffic and weather - that might work too.

I used to love NPR. The old NPR qualifies.

Then they started these fundraisers and somedays it seems like that's all they would play.

They also seems to have gotten really loopy on some of their stories. I remember one where they did a story on an author. But they didn't interview the author. They were talking to the son of the author's neighbor back when the author lived on a farm when he was a kid. And they talked with this guy for what seemed like 20 minutes.

I like interesting perspectives, but seriously !!

Thanks though... its still my fallback option

Yup. Everybody hates their fundraising campaigns. I switch to music channels or 1080 during campaign days. I used to listen to 570 to hear a different perspective but they have gone to the dark side with their toxic rhetoric and fear mongering, on top of that IQ level of hosts and callers is a cause for concern. I doubt educated and moderate republicans tune in any more.

1310 The Ticket

Yes, a lot of it is sports talk but they also talk about current events, Dallas events, random bits, etc.

I recommend Dallas's 24-hour desi station in the middle of the FM dial, almost next to KVIL.

It's the only station in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area where the phrase "qualifying criteria" can be heard in an advertisement for a function hall.
