Hi all,

I moved here a little over a year ago and am overall loving the experience Dallas pound for pound is hard to beat on most metrics. But one thing has been bugging me to no end.

Are any grocery stores here open beyond 11PM or Midnight? It looks like several even close at 10 PM. I moved here from Raleigh, North Carolina which is certainly one would think a slower pace considering Dallas/Ft. Worth is a massive area. Back home we had a store I believe part of the 'Ukrop's Food Group" Called Harris Teeter and it was very upscale and most of their locations were open 24/7 even those on the edge of the city. They also had an amazing Deli. Is anyone familiar?

Is there any comparable store around here? My main stomping grounds in between Far North Dallas/Plano and Addison. Also Wal-Mart does not count.

It's weird. I mean where do the nurses, EMS, and off shift people go to shop?

Thanks!

That area is mostly upper middle class families, not blue collar night shift workers. There aren't enough customers to support being open late. Target used to close at 9:00pm, it's just in the last few years that they started staying open later.

Also Wal-Mart in TX for whatever reason has essentially the same reputation as upper class stores in TX, and as such can be located in nicer neighborhoods with wealthier people unabashedly shopping there. This is of course not true in most states.

may I ask what you're looking to purchase in a grocery store past 11pm that you wouldn't find in a Walmart?

My neighborhood Kroger is open until 1am, I believe. They reopen at 6 IIRC.

ETA location: Richardson, at Belt Line & Coit.

Hi Babs7907. Nothing in particular but every once in a while one has to zip in for produce, or specialty food stuffs that Walmart may not have, or comes in from a late business flight. I just took for granted that the grocers especially in denser areas might be open around the clock.

Strangely I just did a quick google search and there are just a couple that are 24/hours a couple on Tom Thumbs one in Irving and one in Dallas. To compare several Krogers in Atlanta are 24/hours. and several Krogers in Houston as well. It's so weird.

Around here, its just some Krogers, some Walmarts and Meijer open 24/7. Some walmart close at 11, some Kroger close at 10 or 1.
