I'm sorry! I meant dropping high school class rank system to take craziness away from academics. We would never do that to sports. That would be plain blasphemy. Banning SAT on the other hand seems perfectly reasonable.

Banning the SAT is overkill. I think many universities should make it optional and concentrate more towards essay, interview and overall picture.

I know plenty of people who had very high SATs and then tanked in college. That test means next to nothing.

Colleges really want are students with good or better grades and good or better test scores. Kids with both tend to be excellent college students.

High schoolers with weaker grades and good to very good test scores (these are usually males underserved by our K-12 system) are all over the place as collegians...........first semester drop outs to 4.00 astrophysics types.

No matter how much some people hate tests like the ISEE, SAT, ACT, GRE, MCAT, LSAT, USMLE Step 1 and 2 etc. they are very valuable tools and they are not going anywhere.
