I am looking for a very cost effective place to live with an urban feel, but don't mind being on the outskirts of the city. I don't want to be out in the boonies. I like the feel of high rises or midrise apartments, and go for the chic eclectic urban type of dwellings.

Do you think I would enjoy Austin over Dallas? How does Dallas weather compare to Houston weather? Are there nice areas in Dallas to live in? Do youthink the cost of living is cheaper in Dallas versus Houston? Do you think Dallas is a nicer p;ace to live than Austin?

I am looking for something with more than 900 sq feet of living space for a one bedroom with den/office space/extra room.

How much are you willing to spend? If your single or have no kids, you will love Austin (moved from there last year). I live in Dallas now and love it because it is so much more family-friendly.

Houston is also trendy but I have a fear of being there because of all the hurricanes.

I will be living by myself, so no kids to worry about yet (and hopefully not for another ten years.)

I like Houston for its cool city feel, but I am afraid of the weather during the summer. Is it not that bad then in Austin? What about Dallas?

Dallas gets just as hot as Houston but he humidity in Houston is for worse. I am from Dallas and went to college in Houston. For a single person I would choose Houston over Dallas in a heartbeat. It would be hard for me to make a choice between Houston and Austin I must say. It truly took me 3 years to get use to the high humidity in Houston. Thats one thing I will never forget.
