Looking for professional financial advice in northern DFW. The ones I've found all seem to cater to exclusively millionaires, which I am not. I spoke with one that said they don't deal with anyone with a net worth under $2 million. I need advice when it comes to running a business, how to minimize taxes, best way to manage health care and investment and retirement accounts, that sort of thing.

I would start here

You want a CFP with a fiduciary duty to you, not a glorified salesman who is working on commission and screaming about whole life insurance and annuities.

I'd ask a CPA specifically for tax advice.

Find a fee based advisor. They are cheaper in the long run.

Awesome, just what I needed, thank you!

I'm assuming I should go with one where the Compensation Method is "Fee Only"?

Yes, I should have mentioned that. Fees are how fiduciary advisers get paid. You have to pay up front, but it's cheaper in the long run.

Yes, and make sure it is "fee only" not "fee based."

Another place to search: https://www.napfa.org/

Just went through all this. We ended up with Aspen Wealth Management in Ft Worth.

Is it reasonable for me to find someone who isn't wanting me to shell out $3k up front and pay a monthly fee? All I really want is to talk with someone for a couple of hours so I can get some professional advice on how to handle a few things.

sounds like you just need to talk with a good accountant. I'll PM you one who works with small business and c-level clients.

Yes, many of the places I talked to offered an hourly fee, usually in the market of $250/hour. If you are just wanting someone to check up on a well established financial plan, that is your best bet.

However, if you are starting from scratch, they are probably going to balk. The fee is high up front because they go through all your finances, insurance policies, etc. and typically make recommendations and build a new plan for that price.
