I just bought a new house and have no idea how to operate the in ground spa and pool. I have attached pics of the plumbing and was wondering if someone could explain the valves to me. The former owner said put the two valves closest to me if I were standing in front (the top and bottom one) to the left - but when I do that the spa drains. If i just put the top one to the right and the bottom one to the left, the spa overflows into the pool. I don't touch the far one closest to the house as that is the pool cleaner. The one to the far right, I have no idea what that does.

The spa does not get hot, I turn the heater to spa or to pool mode, the heater is hot, the water doesn't get hot. Don't quite know what to do. Here the pics https://www.dropbox.com/sh/dkjw5jcde...molcDj6ma?dl=0

Call Jandy. They have great customer service.

Also, make sure the gas line is open and not shut off.

When you say the water does not get hot, what do you mean by that? Depending on the BTU's of the heater, it can take a LONG time to heat the spa, so if you're just putting your hand in the spa, it may take ~20-30 min before you can tell a difference. The pipes themselves coming out from the heater won't feel that hot either, just warm.

Do you know for sure if the heater is actually firing up? If you're not getting water flowing through it, most heaters have a thermal shut off to prevent overheating.

I can't tell enough from the pictures to adequately describe to you how to turn the valves. Your best bet is to call someone who can walk you through it and do a checkup on your system.

The water is warmer than it is without the heating system on. But it doesn't seem to want to get above 90 or so. The heater is on. Yeah, I suppose I will have to call in a pool guy.

Did you get this solved? For do-it-yourself I would highly recommend going to One Stop Pool up in Plano and talking to the counter guys there. They are all very knowledgeable and helpful and stock all of the parts. I wish you had posted a few more pics from an angle to see where all the valves go. Some of the levers that are fully to one side may need to be centered -- especially the one at the bottom center of pic #1 (that is your inlet control which is taking in water from pool or spa. Where you have it is either 100% pool or 100% spa which is not typical).
