Is this roundtrip reasonable or horrible for a 8-6 job? This person is questioning if they should take the job or not. It sounds like a daily nightmare to me.

Point A: Great Meadow Dr, Allen, TX

Point B: 2751 E State Highway 114
Southlake, TX 76092

Google maps says it'll take 41 minutes right now at 7am on a Sunday, I can't even imagine doing that drive during the week at rush hour. And google maps has always been pretty damn accurate for me. Just figured I'd get that out of the way before all the naysayers come in and say google maps isn't accurate.

I would attempt the commute temporarily if it were a good opportunity. Eventually however, I would move closer.

They aren't willing to leave Collin County as most of their family and friends live here.

They need to download Waze, a free app, and check it out at the times they will drive tomorrow. Waze is very accurate.

I'd do it.

It's nearly all highway. However, 121 is the worst one during commute times.

Probably a solid 60 minute commute each way. Most Texans will refuse to do it, but to each their own.

I chose to go for more house and amenities at a cheaper price vs commute.

Uh, 121 for the most part is the fastest highway among all the other major highways/tollways in the area. The only bad part on this commute would be the part where 121 tollway ends and it gets down to 2 lanes by Grapevine, and by the airport.

It's 34 miles. Definitely not ideal, but I had a similar commute to Westlake when I lived downtown, mine was 30 miles. What made it bearable, in fact easy, was working a late shift. Very light traffic going and virtually none coming back at night.

The location in Allen is right next to 121, so it's not that bad. I made my commute for 2 years. Working a late shift and getting on a 4 day work week was how I made it work. My wife also made a similar commute, but from McKinney, it was 42 miles each way. She worked at 7am to avoid traffic.

it's essentially a 7am-7pm workday beginning and ending with a lot of stress. Doable but soul crushing , with very few hours to do anything after work to relax.
