Why not try a one year lease in UP and if you get bored, next year move to Uptown or vice versa. It seems that you prefer peaceful family neighborhoods but feel pressurized to live like a typical bachelor in Uptown to feel accepted. Do what works for you.

The roads managed by the NTTA are great but the public roads are in poor condition.

Also, mandatory Valet parking is an epidemic here so get used to other people driving your cars.

Why are you limiting yourself to Uptown vs. UP? I would also look at areas East of 75 like M-Streets & Henderson Ave. There is also a lot of development east of Uptown across 75.

That's why I wonder whether I would like University Park. Although I will be visiting these areas soon, I feel like maybe just maybe

University park is somewhere that would be good to escape the whole crowd scene?

Live in university park and on weekends hit up Uptown?

That's why I ask.. I hope someone understands me and can help me out!
To me Dallas as a whole is a pretty quiet city compared to most coastal cities. I feel like I'm in a big town. Even in the busiest areas at the busiest times, you still hear the birds chirping in the trees. However on the weekends that can change a little because dallas has really vibrant nightlife!
