Will there be an audition process to make sure only the 'right' dogs are allowed membership? Will Plano start zoning dog obedience schools to protect property values?
More importantly, are they going to cut as many corners on the development as the renderer did to provide the cheapest product possible?

Purebreds only, and no PetSmart dog obedience training graduates! That's like...the community college of obedience schools. Guess that leaves my dog out.

What are you all so worried about? The location is just barely south of Nebraska Furniture Mart, whose slogan is "It's worth the drive". No-one else other than those who live close by will ever go to this place.

You're right that I'll never go to it, but it's fun to make fun of west Plano being up its own backside. I make fun of Preston Hollow for the same reason.

I guess we have a pretty low threshhold for being 'up it own backside' if a dog park makes the cut - Rodeo Goat & Lee Harveys in Dallas also allow dogs but basically 'only' for exclusive paying customers.

I don't go to those places, so I don't care.

I'm sure everyone who wants to join can, so long as they pay.

That's also the primary motivator to get people to mind their dogs and clean up after them... if they're faced with being kicked out of the park and not being allowed back in and losing whatever they paid for access, most people will make sure their dogs are not aggressive and will clean up after them.

Public parks, there's really no recourse for people and their dogs who are constantly annoyed by aggressive dogs and their idiotic owners.

That's why I like this concept... adding a cost component (and the potential to lose that money if you're kicked out) should go a long way to ensure only responsible dog owners are members.

Everyone can make fun of West Plano, but I just want to point out that this dog park is opening in The Colony

LOL!

I guess the land was cheaper up there.

It's in the Colony which many posters here always dismiss as depressed and undesirable, however theres lots of activity there right now. The Austin Ranch developers have expanded massively there. There's a new trendy apartment complex surrounding a pond and new subdivisions being built and Plano pkwy and parker are being expanded. Housing prices are not cheap there anymore. Just by the volume of young people with pets living near, this park-restaurant should have no problem.
