Hey, I've lived in DFW about 7 years, I've lived near where I went to college at UD in Irving and I've
been living in Victory park for the past few years.

I'm looking for a house to rent with my brother and two friends, four single guys total. My brother just graduated college and will be teaching in Flour Mound.

I have accounts all over DFW from Denton to Seagoville and from Fort Worth to Garland. For me it is really important to live centrally and near as many freeways as possible.

My goal is to try to get a place house that is 30ish min to Flower Mound while not going too far north. I've been mainly looking in Irving/northwest Dallas close to 114 or 35.

I noticed that HEB has plenty of inexpensive homes, but i'm not familiar with the area.

I don't care about schools/ don't mind living in older or working class neighborhoods as long as they are safe. I'm sure out biggest issue will be finding a land lord who isn't sketched out by 4 single guys.

I've seen plenty of 3 bed/ 2 bath for under 2k in Irving/NW Dallas, but it seems that our money might go further in HEB.

Does anyone have any recommendations for the area? I've only lived in apartments since college, would a realtor be necessary for this sort of thing?

Thanks a ton!

HEB is a nice area. You'd be fine there, especially in Euless since it is closer to FloMo and Irving.

Irving, Euless, Hurst or Bedford make sense. But I am afraid you will not be able to be selective about location. It will be difficult, as you indicated in your OP, to find a Landlord willing to lease to 4 roommates. Perhaps best luck will be with a property management company rather than a private LL who manages his/her own properties or near UTA where landlords are used to leasing to students.

Thanks for the responses! Yeah I think that being four single 20 something guys will be our biggest issue. None of us have criminal records all of us have jobs and I know I have good credit, but I guess I understand the fear that we might be a frat party or something.

I agree. I would be looking at apartments managed by large landlords (Gables, Post, AMLI, etc). Your suggestion to look near UTA is also a good one as landlords might be more flexible there.
