Hi guys.
Starting a new job next month near the Galleria Dallas and looking at places to live. Would living in Allen or Frisco result in too crazy of a commute? Approximately how long would you estimate it would take to drive during peak hours?
Thanks!

Unless you enjoy chaos of rush hour commute, limit your search to Richardson or may be parts of Plano.

Are you considering a home or a apartment. Going south on Central during rush hour is not a fun commute. I'm guessing it would be hour minimum.

I have kiddos so would need a house in a good school district.

Allen would be soul-sucking.

Richardson is a great school district as is Plano ISD.

How much do you want to spend on a house?

I would look in the following areas for a commute to Galleria area:

Richardson ISD (west of 75)
Plano ISD (parts are south of George Bush, be careful not to look too far north- ie, along 121- as your commute will increase big time)
Lewisville ISD / Hebron HS zone (west of DNT from West Plano)

Allen is a definite "no" in my opinion due to drive time. Frisco might be ok if you're close to 121/DNT but those homes are pretty $$$ now and you could spend the same money in Plano / Richardson / Hebron and chop 20-30 minutes off your drive time each direction.

The best part of Allen for that commute is going to be NW Allen close to 121. You would take 121, then the Tollway South to the Galleria area. I think East Allen and South Allen would be a long commute. If you stay close to 121, at least you really only have two thoroughfares you're on the entire commute, but you'd pay a lot in tolls.

I figured South and east Allen close to 75 would be the best. It's 18 miles from the Allen DT area, but I recommend Richardson first.
