Half my office lives in McKinney or Frisco. We're probably a good 20 miles from both of them.

At my old job, there were tons of people from McKinney and Frisco who puts lots of miles into their commutes.

True. Others have to go even far.

It's true that there are still many people who commute from the burbs. You will always get people who decide to make that choice. But of all our McKinney neighbors and friends, I'd say over half work in Collin County. Quite a decent number also work from home. The rest work in Irving, in Dallas, or some other location in the metroplex. So though there are still definitely commuters, long gone are the days where we can assume most people go to Dallas to work.

In regards to the article, this community is SUPER far north in McKinney...almost Melissa. SO even a commute to Plano/Allen/etc is gonna be some significant time.

Yeah; I couldn't even imagine it. Some people must really love their houses to drive so far every day.

What worked in the past may not do so in the future. Traffic wasn't a big deal then.

Anyway. If people have the optionality of working from home / shorter commutes, good for them. For the rest, they really must love their house if they choose to signup for horrible work commutes.

What use to be is not going to be. Traffic has increased many folds and keeps increasing. It is going to be a night mare to commute around DFW. As couples change jobs often, it's going to be even more important to be central. Folks are going to be forced by reality of commute to rethink value of new kitchen cabinets.
