Yippee...so the Chinese will sell their junk directly to us instead of us having to go to Wal-Mart/Target/Home Depot/Lowes/<insert name of national chain here>?

Ikea is far enough for me to drive. No way I'm going all the way to 380 unless their stores sells unicorns.

Amen...definitely would never drive that far north just to shop. Ikea is as far as I'll drive if the only thing I'm doing is shopping.

Some people still value quality over quantity.

That's true, and in some cases the increased price of quality is well worth it. U.S. production doesn't necessarily mean higher quality, though. It's an item by item question.

I think for the majority globalization and stagnant U.S. wages mean they can't afford (or are otherwise unwilling to pay for) U.S. production costs most of the time.

We did this to ourselves. When i hear people bashing products from China it's often from someone who does a lot of shopping at Wal Mart. I know that's a generalization but its one I've witnessed. Decades ago Wal Mart moved from selling a majority of US made goods and touting themselves for it to a low price seller and pushing prices above all else. Most Americans shop on price alone and if they're blue collar or a factory worker very likely did themselves harm in the process.
I don't shop there at all but i still buy Chinese made products if it's something i need or want.
