I think those are poor reasons to select Prosper over a community that won't require 2-3 hours of commute out of your day. There are plenty of non-alley communities closer in. I don't personally understand the dislike for alleys as I think the front-entry are typically ugly with cars parked in the driveway and garage doors open...but I grew up in Dallas with alleys.

Regarding the comment of "1.5 hours to Las Colinas" -- a colleague of mine lives in Prosper and works in Plano (Jupiter&George Bush). It also takes 1.5 hours each way. He hates the drive but chose Prosper for *similar* reasons to you. I live in Dallas and work at the same place. My drive takes 12 minutes in, 18 minutes return. We have alleys though.

Quite a lot of Frisco does not have rear-entry garages. You can find a somewhat smaller house and spend more time with the family. Which is more important to you?

I have been told when school starts that will double.

Thanks for the help
I grew up in Prosper, so I probably like it more than most people on this board, but I would never live there if I worked at DFW. Nope. Look at Grapevine or Flower Mound.

This is one thing in Dallas I never got my head around, being from California I was ok with driving to Westlake from Frisco/Prosper. DFW was halfway to work lol.

The key is that in DFW, it is usually easier to avoid that type of commute. Depending on where you are in CA, you either have an affordability issue that leads to long commutes or some specific preferences (near the coast, etc.). In DFW, there just isn't that much difference between Suburb A and Suburb B, so why drive any further than you have to.

That's not all true for everyone, but true often enough that it shapes expected commute time.

Y'all are the weirdos out there, though. Why on earth would you commute that kind of distance if you didn't have to?

I changed jobs and I didn't want the hassle of selling and moving, and I liked my Frisco hood and friends.

I'd have kept looking for a different job.
