Just for reference, NYC is the lowest ranked US city on this list for QOL. I think many would argue with that.

But, random lists are fun regardless.

Well, Numbeo is looking at QOL through a lens of purchasing power and real incomes. In those terms NYC is abysmal. From a purchasing power perspective New Yorkers are the poorest people on the country by a decent margin only challenged by those in Mississippi.

Only lower income New Yorkers, mid to upper income New Yorkers have much more spending power. The cost of many goods doesn't change all that much so while they may spend a higher percentage on housing, they have more actual dollars left over to spend.

Negative. At median income New Yorkers have the lowest purchasing power in the country. I know people struggle with this kind of thing but it's a fact.
