I am possibly relocating from Iowa to North Dallas in the next 6 months for work and I am looking for any recommendations in regards to cities to live in. My current co-worker recommended Frisco, Plano, Allen or McKinney due to location, schools and housing. My wife may be going back to school, so our housing budget on a 3 to 4 bedroom house is $275,000. With that said, which out of the four location would I get my biggest bang for my buck? I do also have two children going into middle school, so great schools are also at the top priority on the list. I will have a home office, so I am not required to stay at either of the four, so I am open for any additional advice. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

That might be a tough budget, maybe Plano.

Some of the older houses in Sunset Pointe in Little Elm but zoned to Frisco ISD may fit. Read up on ISDs and confirm an address with the ISD as many are deceptive. Little Elm ISD has a poorer rep.

I would suggest central Plano for best value.

If wife is going back to school as a full time student then you may have to consider her commute and potential work commute. For those reasons, Plano is a better location.

This... plus both UTD and Collin College (Spring Creek campus) will be fairly close. Zip Codes 75075, 75023 or 75025.

They are both a bit out of the way if your wife is going to a traditional 4 year university. Prosper isn't too far from TWU/UNT, though. I would scratch Melissa off of your list just due to the distance to, well, anything. Also, they're schools aren't as well regarded as the others you've mentioned.
