Need someone to clean up the flowerbed in one of my houses. The work includes
  1. Removing some big old ugly bushes
  2. Remulching
  3. Replanting some basic flowers
  4. Basic plastic lining so grass doesn't grow onto flowerbed

Ultimately I would like to request something reasonable. I know there are some companies (my neighbor actually accidentally did this) that charge $200 to remulch a flowerbed with 10 bags of basic mulch. $2x10 = $20, charging $180 for labor is absurd.

Recommendations?

Please tell me where to find mulch on a regular basis for $2, because I've never seen it. $200 for 10 bags is the going rate in this area, if you have a problem paying other men standard rates to do your labor, why aren't you doing it yourself ?

Me and my family and close friends have probably bought at least, in total, 100 bags of mulch at $2/each in 2017 (and every year before). Both Home Depot & Lowe's often have this sale

We too have bought mulch bags $2 when they went on sale. Not sure if there is a limit on how many bags you can buy at the discounted price per customer at a time.

Lol. Where the hell are you buying mulch from? Jesus. $20 dollars a bag for mulch? That's insane.

Richland College has a horticulture program. I bet if you give them a call, there will
be students working on their Master Gardener certification that could help you out.

He is talking about buying mulch and labor for putting it down as well.

We buy mulch and the lawn maintenance guys put it down for $2 a bag.

But yes $200 for 10 bags is too much, i would rather do it myself at that price.

I need someone that can do this too, so hope someone can make a recommendation.

I have no idea if the quote you got is reasonable, but remember, the $180 isn't just for labor. It's for the business overhead, taxes, equipment, gas, and profit for the business owner who's risking their capital on operating the business.
