Im 23 years old hopefully moving to Dallas in the next few months. I’ve lived my whole life in NYC. I’m looking for any suggestions for areas to live, mainly diverse areas with other young people. I’m lookinng at a starting salary of 35k. I was also wondering if I will be able to get by with that salary?

Anything helps, thanks guys!

Maybe Oak Lawn, Design District, Deep Ellum. Anything in your budget in the "young and fun" areas will require a roommate at that price point.

What part of Dallas are you going to be working in, that will play a huge factor in recommendations. I think $35k will be tough now a days, the Big D has gotten expensive. As someone else mentioned, probably will need a roommate.

At your age you may look at some areas that are near the Dallas universities (SMU, UNT, U of D, TCU in Ft Worth), should be a lot of young people living around there, perhaps rentals will be more affordable as well, not sure though.

There are new apartments being built in Bishop Arts District which might also be a good spot, but they probably won't be finished until a few months from now.

Agree with the poster above. Those areas are safe and have lots to do, but you may need to get a roommate. Welcome to Dallas!

You will definitely need a roommate. $35k doesn’t go far, even for a young single person.

Im going to be in Arlington for a few months. By the end of the year, once I’m making a little bit more , I was thinking about moving to the city in Dallas. Thanks a lot!

I am currently working a 35k job and also looking to do part time work. I don't have a place to live yet but looking near the Bush turnpike while working at 75 and Arapaho. It's about 10 miles from work but in a safe place. First thing to do though is look for where you work. There are places in decent neighborhoods that are as safe as any other place. However, I would agree that a roommate might be needed.
